Private Lesson FAQ

As any parent can tell you, each child is different. Some children mature and develop more quickly than others. We have success teaching drums and piano to kids as young as 4. We have guitar, bass and voice students that are six years old and horns/woodwinds ages 8+. These are only suggestions based on our 10+ years of experience educating various age groups.

We encourage you to book a lesson to see if your child is ready to get the most out of their private lessons. For younger musicians, we recommend Makin’ Music (birth-3yrs) and our Rock Band Jr. program (ages 4-7).

Yes! We teach kids of all ages… even adults who are kids at heart. It is never too late to learn an instrument! We have college students through retirees living their life long dreams to play music.

We offer 30-minute, 45-minute and 60-minute lesson plans at the studio. Of course practice time at home is necessary for your musical growth. We recommend tripling the amount of time spent in lesson on at home practice or 15-20 minutes per day for consistent enjoyment and improvement.

We have various lesson plans starting at $175/month for weekly lessons. We also offer single bookings and bi-weekly lessons based on availability

If a student cancels their lesson with at least 24-hour notice, a makeup lesson can be scheduled in an open timeslot through our scheduling portal or by contacting Rockdale staff. An absence without sufficient notice will not be given an in-person makeup credit but will be sent a LessonMate video lesson. Students are allowed two banked makeup credits at any given time. Virtual lesson makeups are also an option

Makeup lesson credits expire 30 days after membership is terminated. It is the student’s responsibility to schedule the makeup session through Opus1 or Rockdale staff.

The studio is closed between Christmas Eve and New Years Day, Spring Break (week before Easter), Memorial Day, July 4th (Independence Day), Labor Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving.
