Student Spotlight: Aubrey Cartledge

It’s that time again when we get to brag about our amazing students!

Today, we are chatting about the brilliant Aubrey Cartledge. Aubrey is a creative through and through. She joined the Rockdale squad as a member of our Rock Band program a few years ago, then decided she wanted to go her own way and started voice and piano lessons at the studio. She is confident performing either as a front woman on stage or as a soloist accompanying herself on piano. She even directed and starred in her own music video!

We asked Aubrey some questions about her inspiration, her favorite things about Rockdale, and her goals.

What instruments do you take lessons for at the studio and how long have you been a part of the Rockdale Music community?

I take voice and piano lessons at Rockdale. I did Rock Bands for a year or two, and then decided I wanted to do singing and piano lessons.

⁠Who are your favorite musicians and artists that you draw inspiration from?⁠

Barrett Wilbert Weed, Taylor Swift (from when I was young), Ryan McCartan, and Melanie Martinez.⁠

What do you like best about being a student at Rockdale?

It’s really fun to go to the studio and I look forward to every lesson. I don’t have to worry about being really formal and I feel comfortable there…like I can be myself.⁠

What are your future goals as a musician/performer?

I want to make an album with my best friend and I’m in a band with a bunch of my friends now. I also want to be in musicals, movies, and voice acting.⁠

Tell us a fun fact that you would like your fans to know about you!⁠
I was a lead in a musical! I was Cat in the Hat in Seussical at Hedgerow.
At Rockdale, we are supportive of all of our students’ individuality and creativity, and Aubrey is a perfect example that you can accomplish any goal with passion, practice, and persistence.
 
Keep your eyes and ears peeled for Aubrey. No one knows what her next move will be except Aubrey, but we are here for it!
