Alum Spotlight: Mark Hull

Popping in to brag about another Rockdale alum…we just can’t help it.

We would be hard-pressed to find a former Rockdale student who represents what we are all about more than Mark Hull. Mark is a creative force, he is driven to grow and better himself, and—best of all—he makes you feel comfortable just being in his presence. If you have the pleasure of knowing Mark’s acquaintance, you know exactly what we mean.

Mark first came to Rockdale at age 12 to play guitar for a Rock Camp week. He then started guitar lessons with Jared, which over the years also included keys, songwriting, bass, and drum lessons! At 15, he “graduated” into a role as a counselor in training at Rock Camp and eventually a full-blown counselor.
Mark went on to pursue a Bachelor of Music in Composition at the University of the Arts, where he played with several bands, sang with the Philly Pops Festival Chorus, and played mandolin for Broadway Live’s production of Fiddler on the Roof. After graduating, Mark decided to pursue a Master of Music in Scoring for Film, TV, and Video from Berklee College of Music, Valencia campus.

Since then, he’s played with groups spanning across many genres, written the score for a short film, and composed music and sound effects for a video game. Mark is now living in Houston where he writes Production Library music for Merge Music and teaches guitar and piano.
