Student Spotlight: Sahan

Every so often, we have the uncontrollable urge to brag about our amazing students. They really are rockstars…it’s undeniable! It’s only fair we let you in on these up-and-coming musicians before the rest of the world finds them. Consider this your inside track.

Sahan has been a part of the Rockdale fam since he was a young buck! He never turns down a challenge, and he works his butt off to follow through on his commitments. This dude loves some Black Sabbath and Ozzy! We are continually impressed by his progress as a guitarist.

We asked Sahan some questions about what he plays, the music that inspires him, and his experience at Rockdale.

What instrument do you play and how long have you been a part of the Rockdale community?

The instrument I play at Rockdale is the electric guitar. I have been doing this for over 6 years now. I started in 3rd grade and am now in my freshman year of high school.

Who are your favorite musicians and artists that you draw inspiration from?

One of my favorite of all time artists is Ozzy Osbourne. I love his music and his style. It has such a powerful tone that I really like and the music is so cool.

What do you like best about being a student at Rockdale?

The teachers. They are super nice and they are understanding, but they also know the right times to get you on track. They help you work as a team, because when you join a band, you have a certain commitment you also sign off to.

What are your future goals as a musician/performer?

My future as a performer isn’t to be a big time star. But it is to have fun and maybe travel with my friends every once in a while. It would also be great to just be able to play something with a friend in the very distant future.

Tell us a fun fact about you!

Something that I like to do outside of music and school is play video games. I really like hanging out with my friends online and playing with them.
